Plans to revive the Ulster Grand Prix continued with a recent residents’ meeting
The Ulster Grand Prix Supporters’ Club chairman acknowledges that bringing back the event is a challenging endeavor, despite positive feedback from residents in a recent meeting. Plans were announced by the Motor Cycle Union of Ireland to revive the Ulster Grand Prix as early as 2027. The event, known as the world’s fastest road race, last took place in 2019 before financial issues and the COVID pandemic resulted in its absence from the racing calendar. Multiple efforts were made to revive the event, but the current plans seem the most promising, backed by £400,000 in government funding. Seventeen clubs are collaborating to organize the 2027 edition if it proceeds. TUGPSC chairman Des Stewart emphasizes the difficulty ahead but remains optimistic after a successful meeting with residents regarding the event’s revival.
